Deep Run Warriors posted a 2-1-1 record to take 2nd Place in the Kids Peace Soccer
Invitational - on 8/26/07. In their first
match the Warriors defeated Lower Merion SC, 3-2 on a game winner by Mike Tatarowicz
in the final minute of play. Owen and Ethan Clemmer each contributed goals in
the win. The next game the Warriors battled the Triboro Strikers in 100 degree
heat to a 1-1 tie. The lone Warrior goal coming off the left foot of Mike Tatarowics.
This put the Warriors in the semi-finals match on Sunday morning against PASC
(parkland area soccer club). Despite controlling the play in the first half PASC
jumped out to a 1-0 lead. The Warriors answered back quickly with a goal by Alex
Ciampa to even the match and it was Mike Tatarowics who once again delivered the
game winner with his 3rd goal of the tournament. In the championship game the
Warriors had a rematch with the Triboro Strikers, winners of their semi-final
game with Lionsville SC. The Warriors fought hard but found themselves down 1-0
in the first half. They came charging back in the second half but were unable
to connect on a number of scoring opportunities. Triboro capitalized on the Warriors
aggressive play in the final few minutes of the game to seal the win 3-0.
U9
Girls Travel Team, coached by Charles Murgia
wins UBSL Division Championship title: As a bunch of 7 and 8 year old girls
decided they wanted to play travel soccer, there was nervousness and a fear of
the unknown. I didnt know what to expect, said Coach Charlie
Murgia. Ive coached in intramurals but travel is a whole new ball
game. What to expect? These girls, the Wildcats, won their U9 division in
the Upper Bucks League and put up some impressive numbers in doing so. Some other
highlights include leading the league in goals scored, recording 13 shutouts during
the year, beating the Champions of two other leagues in tournament play and winning
two tournaments. They did all this yet showed maturity beyond their years. In
one instance, they allowed an opponent who had not scored all year the opportunity
to score multiple goals so that team could feel good about themselves. They did
this knowing it would hurt their reputation as one of the stingiest defenses in
the league. I recommended it to the girls and they bought into it. Instead
of complaining about losing the shutout, they thought it was a good idea,
said Murgia. When Taylor Bedford, the team goalie, was asked about this, she responded,
We did it because it would make the other team happy so it would be good.
It made me feel good. Truth be told, this amazing defense only allowed two
goals all year, during league play, while playing at their full potential. Though
they switched positions occasionally during the season, the high powered offense
was led by Shelby Bingaman, Maggie Cameron, Mary Claire Casey, Kirsten Moyer,
Sarah Murgia, Caity Stencler, Monica Rush and Jessica Supp. Anchoring the defense
was Lisa Bahmueller, Devan Cresci, Taylor Chapman, Marie ONeill and Taylor
Bedford. Steve Bahmueller was the assistant coach.
U13
Girls Wildcat Ttravel Team, coached by John Cardacin and Chris Villella in winning
the ICSL Division Championship title: This past season, the Deep Run Wildcats
U-13 girls' soccer team took first place in the Inter-County Soccer Leagues
First Division with a 7-0-3 record. After losing out on the 2004 title by a tiebreaker,
the Lady Wildcats jump out to an early season lead and never looked back. By winning
their first three games, Deep Run was able to distance themselves from the competition
early and in a late season showdown with Fox Chase, secured the division lead
with a 1-1 tie. Over the past three seasons, the Wildcats have posted an impressive
21-4-5 league record and finished the 2005 season as the 7th ranked U-13 girls
team in Pennsylvania on the soccerincollege.com website. In the 2005 Deep Run
Turkey Tournament they took home 2nd place and finished with a 2-1 record in the
prestigious Hempfield Tournament, just missing the finals by a one-goal differential.

Lemonade Stand - Fighting childhood cancer one cup at a time:$2252.00
We would like to thank all of the members of the Board for helping
and supporting our service project last weekend for the U9 Girl Wildcats. Their
Alex's Lemonade stand and raffle made an impressive $2,252.00. This will all go
towards fighting pediatric cancer. I have never been more proud of my team, my
parents and the generous people associated with Deep Run. Hopefully, the lessons
learned by my athletes leading up to and including the event will help mold these
young ladies into outstanding citizens. I know it has helped me. Special thank
to Chris Villella and his team for helping us Saturday afternoon when my kids
(and parents) were beat. - Charley Murgia, Coach of the U9 Wildcats
