Highlights:
2010 >>Deep Run Valley Sports Association kicked off its annual "Everybody Hits" program on Sunday, April 11th. Supported by Catalyst 360, a business unit of The Hartford, "Everybody Hits" is a Softball-Baseball program open to all Special Needs Children, ages 6-16. Alicia Detweiler, a Pennridge High School Senior and veteran of Deep Run Lady Lightning Softball, has been Director of this program for the past three years. With the help of Joshua Arbogast, Alexis Detweiler, Jess Youk, and Brooke Gery, fellow High School students and softball players, they began the first weekly meeting teaching basic skills of the game to a group of athletes who were very excited to be given the chance to show what they could do on a ballfield. A heartwarming session full of dedication and accomplishments, the children really benefited being able to get outside and enjoy America's pastime in a friendly, safe, and non-competitive environment.

2005 >> I would like to thank Aubrey Tatarowicz, Ange Sariego and their group of volunteers for making Everybody Hits first year a success. The Everybody Hits program is designed to give special needs kids an avenue to enjoy baseball/softball. Aubrey and Ange organized and ran 5 skills training sessions climaxing with an awards ceremony for 12 young athletes. For any of you who had the opportunity to witness any of these sessions it showed us a side of the volunteer players that is truly what Deep Run is all about. Aubrey and Ange and their crew did an exceptional job at organizing and making this a truly fun event for the kids. Please see some of the pictures from the program. Aubrey will be looking to mentor a younger Deep Run player to organize and run this program after she does it next year and then heads off to college. Any volunteers should email me.
